About Us The Home Builders Association of Greater Cleveland is a nonprofit organization founded in 1943 dedicated to the promotion, advancement and professionalism of the building industry and associated industries. It is our responsibility to uphold good construction standards, quality workmanship and to keep abreast of all codes and regulations that affect our industry. The HBA of Greater Cleveland and it's leaders were instrumental in the formation of both the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in 1942 and the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA) in 1944 and that leadership on the state and national levels still continues today. Presently known as the Home Builders Association of Greater Cleveland, our organization serves the building industry in Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake and Ashtabula counties. In the years since its founding, the HBA's builders have developed a national reputation for product quality, technological innovation and affordability. Gifted with a talented labor pool, Cleveland's builders have constructed some of the most well-built residences in the United States. Quality has been the rule and value is the result. The NAHB has created the National Housing Hall of Fame. Inductees include such well known and nationally renowned names as R. Buckminster Fuller and Frank Lloyd Wright, architects; J. Robert Philip Weyerhauser, Jr., the industrialist and environmentalist; Franklin D. Roosevelt and Robert Taft to name a few. There are only two individuals from the State of Ohio who have been so honored and both inductees are members of our Association: George Goudreau, Sr. (the founding president of our association) and Robert F. (Bob) Schmitt (president of Bob Schmitt Homes). The purpose of the Association is:
